Join us on a journey through the world’s greatest beer festival, Munich’s iconic Oktoberfest (also known as Wiesn), which will take place from September 20th to October 5th. Discover how to travel to this vibrant event from Munich Central Station and immerse yourself in the festivities, which feature traditional Bavarian brews, vibrant parades, and more. Your trip to a fantastic Oktoberfest experience begins right here. Prost!
Anyone arriving at Munich Central Station can walk to the Theresienwiese in ten to fifteen minutes. The walk is worthwhile despite the big crowds on weekends and holidays. Signs and floor markings help to identify the paths. If the weather is not ideal, you can take the metro (U4/U5 station Theresienwiese) or a streetcar (line 18/19, stop Holzapfelstraße or Hermann-Lingg-Straße) one stop.

Tickets for BRB, S-Bahn, U-Bahn, tram, and bus rides are accessible at the blue ticket machines located at each stop. Cash, Girocard (EC card), credit cards, and contactless payment are all accepted. You can also purchase your ticket through one of our other sales channels.
For small groups we recommend a group day ticket.
The penalty fare for traveling without a valid ticket works out to at least € 60. A repeat offense may lead to a criminal charge.
Bags and backpacks are not permitted on the Theresienwiese. Arrive without large luggage or leave them in the main station lockers. There is also storage available at the entrances for a small fee.
At Munich Central Station, the last train to the Oberland region departs around midnight, and the last train to the Chiemgau-Inntal region, including Rosenheim, Salzburg, and Rosenheim, close to midnight. The following trains will leave around six a.m. We recommend checking the depatures ahead of time to plan your trip before consuming too much of the delious and powerful beer.
Please be aware that aluminum coated ballons are forbidden on train stations as there is danger of the overhead cable.
More information on how much beer costs, which tents to visit, and which attractions to see can be found on the Oktoberfest’s official website.
